Department of Guatemala that is part of the Mayan World, it is one of the most visited destinations because of its archeological ruins that date from the Classic Mayan period. It is one of the most traditional and representative of the whole country. Petén is the department with the largest territorial extension and with one of the most important natural reserves, The Mayan Biosphere Reserve. It is located in the northern part of the country.
When we hear about Petén, the first thing that comes to our mind are the majestic ruins of Tikal and its beautiful Island of Flores. Never the less, there are other important archeological sites, such as: Yaxhá, Uaxactún, Ceibal, Mirador, Aguateca y Dos Pilas.

By car: You must go through Ruta al Atlántico, along Roadway CA-9. When you reach a town called “La Ruidosa”, you will find a road that goes to Ciudad Flores, turn to Roadway CA13. Estimated time from Ciudad Guatemala: 7 hours. Distance: 507 Km.
